- Are you under age 65 and unable to work?
- Has your Social Security disability claim been denied?
- Does the whole process seem to take forever?
- Are you getting frustrated?
- Do you feel like giving up?
Disabled people who apply for Social Security disability benefits get very frustrated because the majority of Social Security Disability claims are initially denied. In fact, less than one-third of all claimants who are not represented by attorneys succeed in winning their claims. With attorney representation, the number of successful claims doubles.their claims are often initially denied. If you live in Southern California, Social Security disability attorney Gabrielle R. Ransdell can help you get your disability benefits.
There are two types of Social Security Disability Benefits:
Social Security Disability Benefits (SSDI) are available to disabled people who have worked in recent years, usually five out of the last ten years, and who have paid into the Social Security system. Assets and household income are irrelevant in an SSDI claim.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits are available to low-income disabled individuals whether or not they have worked in the past. There are asset and household income limitations in order to qualify for SSI disability benefits.
The Social Security Administration defines a disability as “the inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of no less than twelve months.”
The claims process is lengthy. From the time you first apply until you actually receive disability benefits can take 18 months or more. An attorney can often get this time period reduced.
